Created at the residence of the House of the Slow River
The short film “Breakfast” is a natural continuation of the themes that have become central to our artistic practice over the past two years — themes of inner restlessness, anxiety, and responses to danger.It was created in May 2024 during our stay in the Kharkiv region, at the House of the Slow River residency.“Breakfast” tells the story of an ordinary morning ritual in today’s Ukrainian reality: a sunny morning, the smell of coffee, a tasty fried egg, distant explosions in the background, birdsong, the wail of a siren. In the process, you sift through your own feelings, naming them one by one — is it fatigue, fear, disgust, rage, laughter? You choose what’s for breakfast today.
